Who we are

Who we are

Verumar is led by NLA International and delivered collaboratively with expert Consortium member companies, examples of which can be found for our Philippines project Here.

The Verumar Team members bring a vast array of operational and technical expertise with a breadth of experience from in and beyond the Blue Economy. This encompasses maritime situational awareness, data analysis, space-based remote sensing, hydrography, fisheries and environmental management and a range of niche capabilities gleaned from many years of practical engagement in their fields.

Capabilities within the Verumar team are aligned meticulously to the outputs being delivered, focused on empowering our partners by addressing their requirements and building on their strengths to offer; unprecedented understanding of what is happening in their seaspace, actionable intelligence and integrated operational procedures to facilitate mission success.

The core beliefs underpinning Verumar’s team ethics are:

  • We have a shared passion for sustaining the seas and oceans.
  • We embrace collaborative challenge.
  • We know investing time to understand user needs is vital.
  • We are knowledge led.
  • We are innovative about how we apply that knowledge.

Front line delivery of Verumar is enabled by equally experienced specialists providing project management at both strategic and operational levels, communications, legal, financial and administrative know-how.

Verumar Projects are tailored on an individual basis to bring the right people together at every stage to ensure the greatest value is delivered. This is led by the Verumar Project Director:

Lee Hardy OBE

In a naval career spanning thirty-six years, Lee Hardy was an acknowledged executive and maritime warfare specialist. His experience was gained from frontline and staff appointments at sea and ashore, in the training environment, in the development of capability requirements and procurement, in specialist intelligence both in the UK and overseas, and in Command. He also led a UK Overseas Territory on behalf of the British Government.

Upon retiring from the military in 2015 he served as the Maritime Adviser to the Overseas Territories Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office which saw him define, source and deliver to the British Indian Ocean Territory an ocean going patrol vessel. In addition he conceived and managed a technology investigation and demonstration programme to examine innovative technologies applicable to maritime enforcement and situational awareness particularly in MPAs. He now advises widely on enforcement and surveillance matters in the maritime domain and is committed to countering the scourge of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing on the high seas.
